Well I was getting pretty grim with this spot as it had been over two years since I had even seen a deer from this stand.  Though to myself I might as well start packing up and maybe even take this stand down at about 7pm.  Just then I heard a huge splash in the swamp to my right.  I don't know how the deer even saw me through the trees but he must have seen something through the leaves.  It was a big bodied, meaty racked, 4pt.  He didn't have a fix on me and stopped.  I grunted and he circled the stand but never approached..... next time.

Nothing moving except two racoons.  Starting to see a pattern here?

November 25, 2000  Morning

Nothing.  I will take my stand down tonight if the luck doesn't change.

October 15, 2000

Nothing again, starting to sound like a broken record.

Saw nothing moving except a rabbit.

Nothing.  Nice evening to sit out though.

Put up my stand, made a fake scrape and laid down some scent trails.  Walking down one of the deer trail about 20 yds from my stand I found this rub.  This is not spike buck doing this.  This was at least a 2 inch wide tree.  Very fresh!

Kicked up some deer from around my spot as I went in this morning.  Thought that's all I would see.  Around first light a raccoon came in to nibble on the apples under my tree.  A few minutes later I heard something else coming and the way the raccoon looked and ran away I knew it wasn't a fawn or a doe.  Sure enough a wide four point made his way to by stand.  I waited until he was directly below me and when he put his head down, I popped him right between the shoulder blades.  The Nugent Blade stopped him in his tracks.  He didn't go 5 feet.  I guess the Wang Dang Sweet Doe Tang did the trick!

Went out to put up some markers and to make a mock scrape.  There already was a rub right under my stand so this is where I made the scrape.  Put down some Wang Dang Sweet Doe Tang, a Ted Nugent product distributed by Buck Stop.  We'll see if this doesn't do the trick on Bucky.

Did some scouting and got my tree stand up.  It is on the edge of a swampy, high grass area next to a runway in and out of the swamp.  It is very hard to get in and out of this area but hopefully it will be worth the effort.  Used my Ameristep tree step driver and put steps up to about 20 feet where I am semi-concealed by oak leaves.  This is getting exciting.
