Paint Creek Log

June 16, 2001

Finally made it back out on what used to be my home waters after 5 long years.  My how things have changed, holes have disappeared, and new ones have formed.  Not a single bite.  Water was very high and stained.  The most disappointing thing about the trip was the damage I am seeing become more and more prevalent to the creek.   See the picture below.

A landowner decided to clear most of his property near the creek.  The banks have de-stabilized and collapsed resulting in huge amount of silt being washed into the creek.  The silt fence shown here is a joke.   I am concerned about the long term prospects of this creek sustaining a trout population.

September, 1989

This trout was caught in Paint Creek in late September of 1989.  Some do get even bigger.
